Reporters Without Borders (RSF):
The Uncensored Library
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) wanted to find a way to bypass censorship in oppressive countries and reach young people. They are especially vulnerable to disinformation campaigns by authoritarian governments and have no access to independent journalism. So we brought press freedom back to them – with Minecraft. Because even in countries where almost all media is blocked, Minecraft is still accessible.
In these countries, that increasingly restrict the rights of their citizens, especially young people flee into games like Minecraft that provide freedom in virtual worlds. And Minecraft has books that can be written and read freely inside the game. We used this loophole and turned a computer game into a tool to overcome censorship to give young people back their human right to access information.
